Sarah Abbott (she/her)
Sarah is originally from London, UK. She and her husband moved to Squamish in early 2021, having been drawn to its enviable outdoor lifestyle.
She achieved her LLB from the University of London in 2018, went on to earn her NCA accreditation, and then completed the Law Society of BC's Professional Legal Training Course in the summer of 2022. She previously worked in several quasi-paralegal roles to complement her legal studies.
Sarah went into law to empower others. She is well aware of the often confusing, complex and elitist world created by lawyers, and she is determined to break this mould while ensuring her clients feel supported and understood.
As someone from a minority group who has confronted mental illness, Sarah feels a personal connection to Everyone Legal Clinic’s mission to increase diversity and inclusion among BC lawyers, and to help BC's underserved communities find justice. She sees many Squamish residents falling into the affordability gap between legal aid and conventional legal services, and she is excited to provide more affordable and equitable legal services to her community.
Sarah has volunteered with charities on housing initiatives, on suicide prevention campaigns, on eating disorder education and support, and on promoting human rights. She is a keen rock climber who has coached young people in the sport for over a decade. She is also an avid swimmer, a newbie to free-diving, a new mom, and a lifelong learner.
