Nicane's goal is to help clients feel supported and confident as they navigate the legal system. She earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West Indies, and a Master of Laws from the University of British Columbia, where she focused on business law, intellectual property, communications law, and social media law. She chose to article with ELC because it gives her an opportunity to work in a setting that prioritizes public service––something she is passionate about––while also providing legal training.

At ELC, she works closely with her clients to help them understand their legal options, stay organized throughout the legal process, and feel more at ease during what can often be a stressful process. Nicane is calm, thoughtful, and uses a trauma-informed approach when interacting with her clients.

With her teaching background, she brings patience, empathy and strong communication skills to her work. As an immigrant, she is especially mindful of the challenges faced by individuals who may be unfamiliar with the Canadian legal system, or may be coming from internationally trained or diverse backgrounds. Nicane is committed to access to justice, and she strives to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard and empowered to take the next steps in their legal matter.
