Gurtej obtained his LLB and BEng in Information Technology from Chandigarh, India, and practiced law for around four years before moving to Canada. While on his path to becoming a lawyer in BC, Gurtej also worked with the ADR Institute of BC which enabled him to cultivate skills in alternative dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration. He also volunteered with the Amici Curiae Friendship Society––helping self-represented British Columbians to understand legal procedures and complete legal paperwork.

Gurtej is passionate about using his problem-solving skills and experience to help contribute to access to justice, which led him to article with Everyone Legal Clinic. With a multicultural background and fluency in English, Punjabi and Hindi, Gurtej is motivated to serve not only the general population in BC but also its South Asian community with expertise and cultural understanding. He is a proud member of the South Asian Bar Association of BC and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (BC).

In his free time, Gurtej finds joy in cooking and spending quality time with friends and family. Embracing an active lifestyle, he indulges in swimming, biking and going on “awe walks” and hikes in nature.
