Darren received his JD with a specialization in Aboriginal Law from the Allard School of Law at UBC in 2021. He was born and raised in Sto:lo Territory in Chilliwack, and is Nedut’en from the Lake Babine Nation. He now resides and works on the unceded traditional territory of the Ligwiłda’xw people; the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum, and Kwiakah First Nations in Campbell River.

He gained diverse experience in Indigenous and human rights advocacy through his previous work in the labour movement as an educator and social justice representative on various committees and boards. He has also served as Councillor for his Nation, representing them with various First Nations organizations, and in negotiations with companies and local, provincial and federal governments. Before coming to the Everyone Legal Clinic, he served with UBC’s Indigenous Community Legal Clinic, and he is extremely excited to continue providing legal services and access to justice to those in need.

Darren is driven to be a good father to his children. He loves fishing, camping and being on BC rivers and lakes. He makes time to work out on a regular basis, and enjoys playing fast pitch, slow pitch and ice hockey.
