Asmaa Heban (she/her)
Asmaa received her BA in English Literature from UBC in 2021. She then went on to receive her JD from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC. She entered the legal field because of her interests in social justice and working with/for community members who have been made vulnerable through systemic violence and neglect. During her time at law school, she completed a clinical externship at Rise Women’s Legal Centre, served as a student clinician with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, and was involved in a variety of advocacy efforts.
Asmaa is incredibly excited to be doing her small part in promoting access to justice for peoples of limited means. She is thankful to be working on the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, on whose lands she was born and raised, and from whom she is continuously learning.
In her free time, Asmaa enjoys going on (easy) hikes, watching sci-fi movies and TV shows, and occasionally needling her friends and family to also do the same.
