As a first-generation immigrant, David has deep roots in the Chinese immigrant community. During his time in college and law school, he volunteered for various public interest organizations that serve refugees and immigrants, and he became interested in practicing law after witnessing the barriers to access justice faced by many immigrants.

David obtained his Juris Doctor degree at Fordham University School of Law, where he was a clinician at the Immigrant Rights Clinic. After law school, David went on to obtain a Master of Public Administration degree at Columbia School of International and Public Affairs.

After the initial wave of the COVID pandemic, David decided to move back to Richmond to be closer to his family and community. He is excited to be part of the Everyone Legal Clinic where he can continue to promote equal access to justice.

In his downtime, David tinkers with computer hardware and his 3D printer. He is also an avid table tennis player.
